Northumberlandia, commonly known as ‘The Lady of the North’ is a huge land sculpture located near Cramlington, which is 9 miles North of Newcastle, in the county of Northumberland. Made of 1.5 million tonnes of earth, 34-metre highs and 400 metres long, Northumberlandia was created in the shape of a reclining female figure and was completed in 2012. Everything was collected from Shotton Surface Mine to create the piece. A beautifully scenic walk, set within a 46-acre park, which is open to the public. Angel of the North
The Angel of the North is a local masterpiece and has also become one of the most talked about public works of Art to ever be created. Designed by Antony Gormley, the Angel is 20 metres tall and her wings span 54 metres across!
