Your UK travel bucket list for 2019!

It’s finally the New Year, and what better way to welcome the new year than with a UK travel bucket list! Now you may already have a bucket list with things on that you want to do throughout your whole life and all over the world. But if you want some ideas on where you can travel this 2019 then here at Green Mountain Travel we have you covered! Check out some iconic locations you need to visit all across the UK…

Visit the Isle of Skye

Let’s start with one of our favourite destinations, the Isle of Skye. We highly recommend visiting Skye throughout May and early June. With snow-capped peaks, spring flowers and a truly picturesque landscape with coastal fringes you can’t go wrong! The Isle of Skye is also a great destination for wildlife watching with the White Tailed Sea Eagle at the top of bird watchers lists. Otters, seals, whales, dolphins and red deer are just some of the other impressive creatures that can be seen on and around the Isle of Skye. If you’re a keen hiker then you will want to walk some of the amazing routes Skye has to offer too!

Hike to the top of Arthur’s Seat

In Edinburgh (arguably one of the UK’s most beautiful cities) you will find an extinct volcano called Arthurs Seat. The view from the peak of this landmark is said to be breathtaking as you can see the whole of the city. A short walk from Edinburgh Castle, the hill rises above the city to a height of 250.5 m (822 ft), provides excellent panoramic views of the city and beyond, is relatively easy to climb, and is popular for hillwalking.

Gaze the stars at Kielder Observatory

Kielder Observatory is located in Kielder Forest, in some of the darkest skies in Europe and the third largest protected Dark Sky reserve in the world. The site was chosen as one of the locations in the UK which has the least amount of intrusive light pollution.

Explore the Jurassic Coast

Situated on the Devon coast and perfect for a family adventure you won’t want to miss out on this one! With its rocks and fossils, we can uncover detailed stories from Earth’s ancient past. Through its landslides, cliffs and beaches we can learn about the natural processes that formed the coast and continue to shape the world today.
